Eating Sweet Desserts Without The Guilt

You know you wish it. But for some reasons, you just can’t. Desserts are truly enticing just by looking at it. How much more alluring it can be if you sink your teeth into its soft, lush, dark cake? The downside of eating those lush desserts is that it would surely destroy your hard work at the gym. You then wonder, is there a way you can eat desserts without gaining pounds on the weighing scale?

Well, you can and you cannot.

The answer is uncertain because there’s no certain answer. What works for some wouldn’t work for the others. If there are those who can eat a whole slice of fruit tart without worrying the flab on his/her thighs, there are those who aren’t so fortunate. But for those who adore dessert so much, that is not adequate. So to give us dessert lovers a little peace of mind, since we just can’t shun them as much as we would like to, let’s try to make sweets a little healthier for us.

First, take a healthy meal before taking your dessert. It just wouldn’t do if your main lunch and dessert are both calorie-filled. At least make your meal as healthy as possible so you can reward yourself with a decadently fine sweet later.

Pile up your desserts with organic ingredients. Instead of all bad-for-your sweets, add some fruits to balance the nutritious factors. But if you are purchasing instead of baking, then read look for those with healthy ingredients and search those with “low fat,” low calorie,” no calorie” etc. on the tags.

Get your dessert in small portions. Have you seen those elegant desserts served at restaurants and bakeries? They are like the Mini-Me’s of a whole cake but they are actually less than a normal cut. They look great, though, and still very appetizing. Try to eat yours in those petite sizes. They still taste the same, but you are just consuming an average share.

And lastly, try to consume decadent desserts during special affairs only. Think of it this way, you are just making a dessert more special by consuming them during special occasions. If you consume them daily, as unbelievable as this may sound, you might lose interest in them because they are not “off-limits” to you anymore. Eating the decadent sweets during special occasions doesn’t mean going missing desserts totally every meal. Sweet desserts can be fruits in parfait or yogurt. Still has the goodness of a dessert without the guilt feelings.

All good stories must have sweet endings, just like a perfect meal. You may have the heartiest meal ever or you just have had the blandest, but your experience will not be done without desserts.
